I keep seeing cars on slicks on the 4t65 but then I see cars that grenade on a street drive. Is it possible to throw 4t80 parts in a 4t65 case like the 4l60 guys when they make a 4l70? Or is this not a option due to case sizes? A 4t80 swap would be a game changer if it could be done properly I'm sure, the added weight can be counteracted by a build of boost the 100 lb difference is literally the difference between the steel and aluminum subframe swap at the same time. Definately worth looking at. A f23 wouldn't be useful on the strip I'm sure.
Im pretty sure its hit or miss on the 65e depeneding on how abused they were in their life or how much service was put into them. Id love to build it up as far as it would go, but me and flames are a bad combination as im very flammable.

I'm in the same boat all i have is a 40k cooler and a transgo shift kit. I have access to a f23 but I don't feel it's the best route for me as I want to go to the track myself. I have considered running my car to the track to see what sort of times I run. I'm worried I'm gonna scatter mine soon though been debating a trans rebuild soon regardless with some triple edge goodies to boot

My thing is that this car isnt a daily any more. So if it scatters the transmission, I wont lose any more money other than rebuilding it. Ive heard from another group that the f23 is good for street driving and things similar to that because you have two different ways of adjusting to your environment instead of doing the old throttle till you drive it out. At this point im trying to find out where a decently used 4t65e will go before it grenades. I wouldnt be suprised when I go to run it next year🤣 that it doesnt grenade. Im gonna start pricing a triple edge build for it to see what i can push through the car. Goal is +500whp and/or 11's in the quarter.

I have of course seen what everyone does in forums and posts about 300whp m90 limits on the input shaft and chains, turbo guys are more around 350 to 400whp before blowing. That being said there are instances of transgo shift kit and 40k tru cool only 4t65e turbo cars seeing 450whp and even 500whp on the street fine. I would say it's highly in shift points, line pressure and stall speeds. But then again I have the f23 as access, I have been deciding to go the 4t80e route and make a proper detailed write up there for that to be done as it's easier then the f23 but seems to be overlooked often, they have been known to hold 600whp stock with a reasonable tune alone.

4T80 and 4T65 are different in several ways. a good tune, shift kit, and mods make the 65 pretty good but id still go with an 80 or a manual if it was the other option.

Welcome, interesting build. Look forward to see more of it. We love pics.
Dont we all? I have a few people in a couple hours drive that also dabble with the 3800's. Hopefully I can setup a meet/race of sorts to kinda get us all together!
