As I stated before, I’m an old school guy. So I tend to go back to, & use what I like to enhance a car to my liking. I like old school wood steering wheel & modern cars don’t really lend themselves to such things with air bags & steering wheel controls etc… The same holds true for gear shifts, peddles & so on. Or does it?

When old school meets new school! Those sill plates give me serious fisherbody vibes—really cool look. How much heavier is that accelerator pedal compared to the stock plastic one?

Sorry, I don’t know what fishbody is? The machined aluminum pedal is actually a little lighter by feel, but I’ve never weighed either one.
I actually thought you guys might find a real wood wheel in one of the newer type cars interesting, but I guess that went out with the muscle car as well.
Here’s a few others of the FWDs I owned. He picture with the three GP are red, white & black , not my blue (Indian) as I also owned a black one for awhile.

Meant to say fisherbody, autocorrected it to fishbody lol. Is the red GP a TGP or just a GTP? cant tell from the back besides the wing which looks like a 91-94

Robert, the red one was a GTP 3.4 NA.
That said I have a question about the W-body tech main page, the history of the 1997-2003 Grand Prix. Just a observation, but there are several statements that are inaccurate. Sorry, but they’re just not. What’s up with that? The “97”-“03” GP was the seventh generation, not the forth. Also it was not built on an updated platform! It was built on a completely newly engineered platform called MS2000. Now all the W platforms were built under the umbrella program GM10! This was a program name as well as the first platform, “82” to “96”. “97” to “05” was the W2 (MS2000).This platform was engineered in Detroit & built in the USA! Then the W3 “06” to “16”.

Additionally, the GTP (supercharger) was most definitely available in “97”!

First Generation GP – “62”-“64”
Second –“65”-“68”
Third – “69”-“72”
Forth – “73”-“77”
Fifth – “78”-“87”
Sixth – “88”-“96”
Seventh – “97”-“03”
Eighth – “04”-“08”

Does your steering wheel still have the airbag, or has it been removed? If it's still there, has it been deactivated, of is it still armed?

No! I removed the steering wheel air bag completely & disconnected the power from both of the air bags, deactivated. I also removed the idiot light from the instrument panel. I bought a spare junkyard air bag, blew it up so I could use the fixture plate to make the new center section of the new wheel.

Air bags are, once again a government thing & they honestly don’t work unless you’re to stupid to put on your seatbelt! If I’m wearing my seatbelt do I really need a brick racing up at my face at 500 hundred miles an hour? Yes that’s the actual speed they travel at, so I don’t think so! Better yet, if they are so great why has NASCAR never implemented them? FYI car seatbelts came from proven NASCAR results.

Here are a few pictures of the steering wheel build. The wheel was reduced in diameter as you will notice in the pictures.
