This morning, I was lying in bed, not really feeling like doing much of anything. But I figured I’d check Facebook and see what’s new in Marketplace. The surprise I got when I saw this new listing—a ‘95 Grand Prix in white with the Special Edition package and those matching white wheels—I knew I had to have it.

I reached out to the seller, thinking the car was about two hours away, only to realize it was just 45 minutes from me. That was all I needed to know. I got dressed, prepped the trailer, headed straight to the bank, and met up with the seller. As soon as I saw the car in person, I knew it had to come home with me.

I checked for rust, expecting the usual Midwest rot, but to my surprise, the body was completely clean. Honestly, I was shocked—every time I come across one of these early models, they’re usually rusted out. I didn’t even check the mileage or anything. I just jumped it, loaded it onto the trailer, and brought it home. I haven’t been this excited for a W-body since I got my 1990 McLaren Grand Prix.

So, what’s wrong with it? Well, turns out it overheated. The previous owner replaced the head gaskets, but it’s still drinking coolant, so I’m betting the heads are toast. Luckily, I have a 3400 sitting in the garage, so I’ll be swapping that top end onto the 3100 bottom end and calling it a day. As for future plans? Maybe an LS4 or L67 swap—only time will tell.

I just ordered the parts for the 3400 top swap and some extra gaskets for future builds.

Very nice, we should get to see this thing driving around soon then!

A few things I need to do upgrade wise are:

185º thermostat
Thicker OEM radiator with engine oil cooler (Yes GM used to make thicker ones back in the day and you can still get them)
95-00 Wbody 1.5 brakes (this is cheap and will hold me off for bigger brakes later)
DOT4 brake fluid
True Cold Air Intake (Fender or bumper mount)
Transmission oil cooler

Got the donor engine torn down, just gotta clean it up and maybe do seals, and if I do those seals I may as well upgrade the springs. Still debating on that one.

I just realized that if I wanted to use the 3400 injectors, I needed an adaptor for them, so I ordered the EV1 to Multec adapter. This way, I won't have any delays in getting this swap completed.

OK so this Project just took a tune for the worse or better...... A new thread is coming for the engine build.
