New to forums, but this one caught me. Been in love with w bodies since I got a 2006 GP base that's now at 240k as a first car. Kinda got indoctrinated after hearing about my dad & uncle's old w body builds (99 GTP Coupe & 98 regal GS, respectively) being able to beat out saleen mustangs back in the day. Mostly into early 2000s GM for affordability and build potential, but I also have an eye for non USDM that are unique enough.
Found this while trying to find info on the W 3 platform's frame/subframe component dimensions (after a few days of searching I don't think it exists online, so it's most likely junkyard time with a tape measurer & micrometer
), but there was enough W body info here to stay. Am studying mechanical engineering and plan on conjuring some 8th gen gp CFD/EFI renderings with CAD as a personal project ...and obviously using that data for a future build lol
Hoping to get a good condition 6th gen gp as a project car at some point, but that could change to a g8, gto, n* bonne, any w body... pretty much all the cool/quirky things GM used to put out.
(interior design is also pretty nice from the driver's perspective with these)
