This is my daily driver, 2018 Chevrolet Trax LT 1.4 Turbo, 6t40 automatic transmission.
Here are some photos of some highly recommended maintenance mods to make to your 1.4 Turbo vehicle.
All of these parts are plastic and very brittle and should be replaced. These are including:
- oil return line
- coolant outlet housing
- thermostat housing
- valve cover
The 1.4 Turbo definitely isn’t known for its reliability.. But replacing all this plastic crap with aftermarket metal replacements will help a lot to keep your car running and not leaking
The valve cover, and both coolant housings are easily serviceable without removing much from the engine bay. Only remove the coil pack, and the rubber boot that runs from the turbo to the intake box.
For the oil return line, you have to remove the cat downpipe, bracket that some of the cat bolts to, and remove and set aside the the line that goes to from the turbo to the intercooler.
I’m no expert, but if anyone finding this has questions, let me know!
